President John Dramani Mahama has assured members of Organised Labour that his administration is committed to transparency, accountability, and financial discipline in the management of state funds.

Tensions have risen between the government and some groups within organised labour, including the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG), which is currently on a nationwide strike over delays in salary structure reforms.

Speaking during an engagement with Organised Labour at the Jubilee House on March 17, 2026, the president said his administration is fully transparent in its handling of Ghana’s economy.

“This government has nothing to hide. What you see is what you get. We’ve come a long way from the period where you had two different economic statistics. The statistics that we give you are the true state of the economy,” he said.

President Mahama indicated that his administration remains focused on sound economic management and is ready to disclose the state of the economy to stakeholders before decisions are made on the distribution of state funds.

“Today, we will show what the size of the national cake is before we all decide how we share. If we don’t let you know what the size is, you believe it is bigger than it is and your share is smaller. But if we let you know the size, then you know that the share we are getting is commensurate with what the cake is,” he stated.

He also urged citizens to contribute to economic growth as a sustainable way of sharing national resources, adding that the true state of the economy will always be made known to Ghanaians.

The meeting with Organised Labour forms part of ongoing consultations by the Mahama administration to engage key stakeholders on economic conditions, wages, and national development priorities.
