The Minerals Commission has announced the suspension of all mineral rights applications via its online portal, effective 20th March, 2026.
This, according to the Commission, is part of a comprehensive clean-up exercise of its Mineral Cadastre Register.
In a public notice issued on 18th March, 2026, the Commission noted that the suspension will affect new applications for small-scale, industrial minerals, and large-scale mineral rights.
The temporary closure is expected to last until 19th June 2026.
The Commission stated that the measure is necessary to address existing backlogs and process pending applications already in the system. No new applications will be accepted online during this period.
“This exercise is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to strengthen fairness, transparency, and accountability in the management and processing of mineral rights applications in Ghana,” the notice said.
The Minerals Commission has appealed to prospective applicants, stakeholders, and the general public to take note of the directive and cooperate accordingly.
The Commission also expressed regret for any inconvenience this temporary measure may cause and thanked the public for its continued support as it works to enhance the integrity and efficiency of Ghana’s mineral licensing system.
