Ghana internationals Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana have rallied support for the 11th Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup, joining a group of fellow professionals to back the annual community football tournament.

The duo, alongside Araphat Mohammed of FC Nordsjaelland, Abdul Hakeem Sulemana of Randers FC (on loan at Hillerod) and Maxwell Woledzi of Nashville FC, have contributed towards this year’s edition, which marks another milestone for the competition since its introduction in 2015.

The tournament, a key fixture on the Zongo community calendar, is held at the end of Ramadan and brings together teams from various Zongo communities. This year’s competition will feature 16 teams and will climax on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Madina Astro Turf, coinciding with the Eid celebrations.

Kudus, who supported the 10th edition last year, has once again taken the lead in mobilising support, with the players collectively providing essential logistics to enhance the tournament.

Their contributions include sets of jerseys for the finalists, a trophy, medals for both winners and runners-up, as well as prizes for outstanding performers.

Organisers of the competition have welcomed the gesture, describing it as a strong show of commitment by the players to give back to their roots.

“We are grateful, once again to Black Stars and Tottenham Hotspurs star, Mohammed Kudus, for coming on board the Ramadan Cup. Kudus, alongside his colleagues, Kamaldeen Sulemana of Atalanta, Araphat Mohammed of FC Nordsjaelland, Abdul Hakeem Sulemana of Randers FC on loan at Hillerod and Maxwell Woledzi of Nashville FC, have joined forces to support our 11th edition,” the official Facebook page of the tournament stated.

“Through their management team, the pro players are providing sets of jerseys for the finalists, medals, trophies and prizes for outstanding performers.

“And through the support of Mohammed Kudus, Kivo Ghana Ltd., will also be supporting the teams with their products.

“We are grateful to these players for giving back to support the very community they emerged from.”

Originally scheduled for Sunday, March 22, the tournament has been rescheduled to Monday, March 23, which has been declared a public holiday to mark the Eid celebrations.

The Ramadan Cup has grown steadily over the years, serving not only as a platform for football talent but also as a unifying event that strengthens bonds within Zongo communities across the country.
