President John Mahama has cut the sod for the construction of a 24-hour economy model market at Dormaa Ahenkro, marking a key step in the rollout of his administration’s flagship economic initiative.
The project, located in the Bono Region, forms part of a broader plan to transform trading infrastructure and expand economic activity across the country.
President Mahama announced that all 261 districts will benefit from similar market developments, aimed at creating modern, efficient, and inclusive commercial hubs.
He explained that the 24-hour economy model markets will be equipped with a range of facilities designed to support traders and businesses, including women’s development banks, cold storage systems, childcare centres, police and fire service posts, restaurants, and lorry stations.
