MoE joins SWESCO to celebrate 67th anniversary, calls for discipline and continued excellence

The Technical Advisor to the Minister for Education (MoE), Professor George K.T. Oduro, joined Swedru Senior High School in the Central Region to mark its 67th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Day.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the Minister, he congratulated the Governing Board, Management, staff, students, and the Piesie Alumni fraternity for their contributions to the school’s growth, noting that SWESCO has consistently produced distinguished personalities across various sectors.

The Minister further stressed the importance of discipline nationwide and highlighted ongoing government efforts to improve infrastructure and expand access, noting that SWESCO is under strong consideration for an upgrade to Category A status.

He urged students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence.

In her report, the Headmistress, Piesie Golda Esi Andam, emphasized the school’s commitment to discipline and academic excellence, stating that “SWESCO does not compromise on discipline, as it remains key to achieving strong academic gains and maintaining a safe learning environment.”

She also noted improvements in WASSCE performance and called for continued stakeholder support to address infrastructure and logistical needs.

Delivering the welcome address, the Board Chairperson, Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Wyns Dogbe, underscored the school’s enduring legacy and further reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to development in aligning infrastructure and resources with the school’s ambition to achieve Category A status.

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, encouraged students to remain resilient, stating that “success is rarely a straight path… it is carved through persistence and the courage to continue,” while urging stakeholders to address emerging challenges in education, including discipline, student wellbeing, and the responsible use of technology.
