Ghana Beauty and Aesthetics Academy set to host a National Industry Dialogue scheduled for 31 March 2026 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, aimed at restoring trust, strengthening standards and protecting public health.
The free event, under the theme “The Future of Beauty and Medical Aesthetics in Ghana,” will bring industry practitioners, policymakers and health regulators under one roof to confront growing concerns over safety, licensing and professional standards in a sector that has seen explosive growth in recent years.
At the heart of the discussion lies a troubling reality, a significant number of aesthetics practitioners across the country are operating without formal licensing or adequate medical oversight. Reports of botched procedures, severe complications and, in some cases, deaths have intensified calls for urgent intervention.
Stakeholders say enforcement alone has proven ineffective, because for every clinic closed, several more appear often operating informally, without adherence to medical standards.
Ms Linda Mensah, a well renowned Ghanaian beauty and wellness entrepreneur who also doubled as the founder of Ghana Beauty and Aesthetics Academy and Covered Cosmetics said “We are closing clinics, but we are not fixing the system that allows them to exist in the first place, hence, the need to bring all these practitioners together for a shift in strategy from penal crackdowns to structured engagement.”
She re-echoed the need to create a platform for collaboration between practitioners and key regulatory bodies to establish clear policies, define scope of practice and introduce pathways for training, certification, create awareness and compliance.
“There is a need to bring people into the system, not push them further into the shadows,” Ms Linda said. “If practitioners are supported, trained and properly regulated, outcomes will improve for everyone especially patients.”
Keynote speakers during the event will include Dr. Winfred Korletey Baah, Acting Registrar and CEO of HeFRA, Ms Linda Mensah, representatives from regulatory bodies including Food and Drugs Authories, and more.
The panel consists of Dr. Ernest Konadu Asiedu, Head of Medical and Dental Program at Ministry Of Health.
The event hosted by Ghana Beauty And Aesthetics Academy will be the official launch of the Ghana Aesthetics and Wellness Association, supported by Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) and the Food and Drugs Authority, key partners include HeFRA and Movenpick Hotel with sponsorship from Lamelle, Fulfilled Medspa Clinic, Covered Cosmetics and Aqua Gold.
