Heath Goldfields Ltd. has taken delivery of a new fleet of heavy mining equipment as part of its ongoing efforts to reopen and modernise the Bogoso-Prestea Gold Mine in Ghana’s Western Region.
The company announced the arrival of the equipment through its partnership with Ghanaian contractor Fridoug Company Limited, which is supporting operations at the mine.
The new fleet includes Komatsu 785 haul trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, and other key mining equipment, all expected to strengthen activities at the Bogoso-Prestea site significantly.
Heath Goldfields said the additional equipment will enhance operational capacity at the mine by improving the movement of ore and waste materials while supporting safer and more efficient mining operations.
“The development reflects the level of investment being made to restore the mine and return it to its position as one of Ghana’s important gold-producing assets,” the company said.
The Bogoso-Prestea Gold Mine, located in the Prestea-Huni Valley district of the Western Region, has historically been one of Ghana’s significant gold-producing operations.
Heath Goldfields said the new fleet will play a critical role in helping the company meet its production targets and accelerate the full revival of the mine.
Beyond the equipment itself, the company used the announcement to highlight its commitment to local content and Ghanaian participation in the mining supply chain.
The partnership with Fridoug Company Limited, a Ghanaian contractor, is being presented as a deliberate effort to ensure that the benefits of the mine’s revival extend beyond the company itself to local businesses and communities.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to investing in partnerships, equipment, and human resources to ensure the mine delivers long-term benefits for employees, surrounding communities, and Ghana as a whole.
