First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, is in Washington, D.C., where she is participating in the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit—an international gathering focused on shaping a safer and more inclusive digital environment for children.
The two-day summit, convened by Melania Trump, brings together first spouses and global leaders to deliberate on pressing issues surrounding children’s online safety, digital access, and the responsible use of technology in an increasingly connected world.
Mrs Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to protecting children in the digital space while promoting technology as a tool for opportunity and growth.
In a statement ahead of the summit, she emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding the next generation.
“Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility,” she stated.
Discussions at the summit are expected to focus on practical strategies to address cyber risks facing children, bridge digital inequality, and promote policies that support safe and inclusive online environments globally.
