The Palestinian Embassy in Accra has donated 70 bags of rice to Muslims in parts of Accra to help them break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
The gesture, which was part of the embassy’s social responsibility and humanitarian outreach, benefited more than 50 people, including women and children observing the fast.
The Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Ahmed Abu Dalfa, said the donation was aimed at supporting underprivileged Muslims during this period and strengthening the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Palestine.
He said the bond between Ghana and Palestine went beyond official diplomacy and was also rooted in solidarity and mutual respect.
“Friendship goes beyond official relations.
We will not forget the support of Ghanaians and we continue to hope for peace in Palestine,” he stated.
Kindness
A representative of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, commended the embassy for the gesture and urged Muslims to pray for peace and show kindness to their neighbours.
He emphasised the importance of charity, stressing that whether small or big, giving was significant during the holy month.
Also present was the General Secretary of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, who called for continuous support for the people of Palestine, particularly in their time of war and political unrest.
He urged the public to show love and solidarity, stressing that giving should not be based on abundance.
A Christian cleric, Apostle Isaac Kofi Mensah, who graced the occasion, also encouraged the beneficiaries to reflect on the values of peace, unity and compassion, adding that such principles were essential in promoting harmony in society.
“Love is the key. You don’t need to have much before you give; you need love to give,” he said.
The event also featured prayers for peace in Palestine and around the world.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the embassy for the timely support, noting that the donation would help ease the burden of providing meals as they observed the fast.
