The Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) has signalled its intent to redefine its role in bolstering the country’s trade, import, and export landscape, as it marked a decade of operation with the launch of its 10th Anniversary International Conference.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah, Chief Executive of GEXIM, reflected on the bank’s journey since its establishment in 2016, emphasising its enduring mandate to expand Ghana’s productive capacity, support export trade, and drive industrial growth.
“Reaching ten years as an institution is significant, but even more significant is the purpose that has sustained the journey and what lies ahead of us,” he stated.
Highlighting the conference theme, “A Decade of Enabling Trade and Industrial Transformation: Resetting GEXIM for the Next Frontier”, he noted that the gathering provides a vital platform to assess progress, exchange ideas, and plan for the future.
The Chief Executive stressed that beyond celebration, the conference aims to shape the next chapter of GEXIM’s work. “It is my hope that our discussions will be thoughtful, forward-looking, and grounded in practical action. More importantly, I hope they will help strengthen the partnerships and ideas needed for the next chapter of GEXIM’s work,” he said.
GEXIM’s CEO underscored the role of collaboration with national and regional stakeholders in advancing Ghana’s trade and industrial sectors. He welcomed participants, describing their engagement as essential to driving strategic initiatives that will enhance the country’s competitiveness in international markets.
The two-day conference brings together leading trade and industry experts, business leaders, and government officials, including Vice President H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who is expected to underscore the government’s support for Ghana’s export and industrialisation agenda.
As GEXIM reflects on its achievements, the focus now turns to leveraging innovative solutions, partnerships, and policy alignment to propel Ghana’s trade and industrial transformation in the coming decade, Hon. Sylvester noted.
