The Macedonia Methodist Church, a society under the Kwashieman Circuit, has inducted two new stewards as part of efforts to strengthen its leadership and improve administrative effectiveness within the church.
The induction service was held under the leadership of the Superintendent Minister, Very Rev. Samuel Kofi Kankam.
The two new stewards, Stephen Amugyah and Sussana Tetteh, were inducted as Steward in charge of Finance and Steward in charge of Administration, respectively.
Stephen Amugyah is expected to oversee the church’s financial stewardship, ensuring accountability and prudent resource management.
Ms Tetteh will coordinate administrative functions and support the smooth running of church activities.
The ceremony was attended by church members, leaders, family and friends.
Steward
In his exhortation, Very Rev. Kankam emphasised the importance of stewardship in church growth, adding that stewards play a critical role in supporting the ministry through sound administration, transparent financial management and service to the congregation.
He urged the inductees to lead by example and uphold the values of the Methodist faith.
Very Rev. Kankam further encouraged church members to support the new stewards through prayer and cooperation, stressing that effective ministry required collective responsibility and unity within the congregation.
Transparency
Later in an interview, the Steward in charge of Finance, Mr Amugyah, pledged to promote transparency, accountability and innovative fundraising strategies to strengthen the financial position of the church.
He explained that the stewardship role was structured as a five-year term, subject to annual performance reviews and renewal by the superintendent minister.
Mr Amugyah said the arrangement ensured accountability and encouraged diligence in service.
He said his primary responsibility was to manage the church’s finances, including receiving offerings, preparing the annual budget, preparing the statement of financial position, ensuring prompt banking of funds and supervising disbursement processes.
“Our objective is to improve the financial status of the church. We have many responsibilities and activities, so we must strategise to raise enough funds to support the work of the ministry,” he said.
Mr Amugyah indicated that he intended to organise fundraising programmes, including musical concerts and other initiatives to support church activities and assist vulnerable members.
He thanked the church for the trust reposed in them and assured them of the responsible management of church resources.
“I promise the church that they can trust me. I will manage the funds diligently, remain accountable and be faithful in handling the resources entrusted to me,” he added.
