The Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Ruth Dela Seddoh, has urged National Service Personnel (NSPs) to uphold discipline, service and integrity as they contribute to national development.
Speaking at a passing-out ceremony for 40 NSPs who underwent a two-week military orientation, she described the training as a transformative experience aimed at shaping character and instilling lifelong values.
The personnel, made up of 22 males and 18 females, began training on March 9, 2026, and passed out on March 25, 2026, after intensive drills and practical sessions at the 1st Infantry Battalion, Michel Camp.
Participants, currently undertaking their national service with TDC Ghana Limited, received training in leadership development, responsible citizenship, communication skills, fire safety, first aid and physical drills.
Ms Seddoh noted that the programme aligns with the vision of John Dramani Mahama, as outlined in the 2025/2026 State of the Nation Address, where he highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing responsible and productive citizens.
She explained that the programme is not intended to militarise the youth but forms part of broader government efforts to instil discipline, leadership, national pride and civic responsibility among service personnel.
Ms Seddoh announced plans to scale up the programme nationwide by July, citing its potential to shape a more responsible and productive workforce, and commended TDC Ghana Limited for spearheading the initiative.
The Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, Courage Kafui Nunekpeku, praised the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the First Infantry Battalion, for their role in delivering the training.
He urged the NSPs to carry forward the values of discipline, service and integrity, noting that the successful completion of the first cohort marks a significant step towards building a more responsible and value-driven workforce.
The trainees are expected to apply the skills and discipline acquired to enhance their performance and contribute meaningfully to national development.
