Bembisi, a community in the Upper East Region of Ghana, has been neglected!
The community’s only basic school, Paul Amenga-Etego Basic School, has deteriorated significantly over time, leaving pupils learning under trees in unsafe conditions.
In 2025, the worsening conditions at the school resulted in the community organising and mobilising from their own resources to build a 3-unit classroom block.
While the project has successfully reached the roofing stage, construction has now stalled due to a lack of funds.
Community leaders, faced with the urgent need to complete the building, have had no choice but to call on residents, many of whom are already struggling financially, to contribute additional money toward the project.
The total cost of the project is estimated at GH¢102,180, and without external support, completion remains uncertain.
Residents have expressed shock and disappointment over what they describe as a lack of support from the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kassena-Nankana West and the Member o Parliament for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Nikyema Billa Alamzy.
Many say it is disheartening that despite their collective efforts, no assistance has been provided to help complete the school.
The community is therefore appealing to the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, GETFUND, NGOs, philanthropists, and the general public to support them in completing the classroom block to secure a better learning environment for their children.
Support Bembisi, help complete the school project. The bank details are Republic Bank, Bolgatanga Branch, A/C. 0441008438301.
