Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Thomas Walanyo Tsekpo has officially launched the “Agric for All” project in the constituency. The initiative, which seeks to modernize farming and increase productivity, comes as part of the MP’s commitment to supporting local farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Tsekpo outlined the scope of the project, describing it as a comprehensive agricultural package designed to equip farmers with modern tools, resources, and technical support.

The project package includes two tractors and two ploughing machines, which will be used for efficient land preparation and crop management. In addition, the initiative provides hatching machines, and accessories for harvesting crops like corn, ensuring that farmers have the necessary equipment for all stages of production.

Beyond machinery, the “Agric for All” project also involves the distribution of maize and rice seedlings, enabling farmers to establish crops immediately with high-quality planting materials. To support proper crop growth, six tracks of fertilisers have also been provided, giving farmers access to essential nutrients for higher yields.

Mr. Tsekpo explained that the tractors are specially equipped to handle the ploughing, fertiliser application, and transportation of seedlings, making the process more efficient and reducing manual labour for farmers. “This project is aimed at empowering our farmers to produce more efficiently, adopt modern farming practices, and improve their livelihoods,” he said.

The MP emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader effort to boost food production across the Hohoe constituency, ensuring that the region becomes more self-reliant and contributes significantly to national food security.

He noted that the “Agric for All” project aligns with the government’s agricultural agenda under President John Dramani Mahama, which focuses on modernizing farming and increasing productivity nationwide, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening Ghana’s food systems.

The “Agric for All” project reflects a growing trend among Ghanaian constituencies to adopt mechanized farming and modern agricultural practices. By combining machinery, high-quality seedlings, and fertilisers, the project aims to reduce the gap between traditional farming methods and modern agriculture, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Tsekpo concluded by reiterating his commitment to the agricultural development of Hohoe, promising continued support for farmers and the introduction of more initiatives to enhance productivity. The project is expected to significantly impact the constituency’s food production, improve farmer incomes, and strengthen local food systems in the coming years.
