Veep Visits Scene of Accra Newtown Building Collapse

The Vice President of Ghana, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, has visited the building collapse site at Experimental D/A School in Accra Newtown.

Her visit on March 30, 2026, was to assess the situation.

After inspecting the scene, she received briefings from the Ministry of Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, on the tragic incident.

The veep also commiserated with the victims and their families, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation into the incident.

Building Collapse
Three people died on March 29 after an uncompleted school building used by worshippers collapsed during a service.

Among the dead were two females and one male.

Information from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the building was an uncompleted four-storey building at the Experimental D/A School in Accra Newtown.

The deceased were among 23 people who were trapped under the debris.

The 20 injured were rescued alive and transported to the Police Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Mamobi Hospital and a private facility, the Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, reported at a presser.

Among them were seven minors

The rescue mission was undertaken with the help of the Police K9 dogs, Narcotics Control K9 dogs and the military, he said.
