Rosebank International University College (RIUC) has inaugurated a new Governing Council as part of efforts to strengthen oversight, improve accountability and position the institution for growth within Ghana’s competitive higher education sector.
The Council, which serves as the university’s highest decision-making body, is expected to provide strategic direction, ensure financial discipline and uphold regulatory standards as the institution expands its academic footprint.
The inauguration ceremony brought together key stakeholders and senior officials of the university, with discussions centred on governance, institutional growth and the need for strong leadership to sustain academic excellence.
Chaired by Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, the Council comprises a mix of academic leaders, administrators and industry professionals, including Dr Clement Apaak, Mr Emmanuel Duku, Mr James Yalley Kwofie, Prof Linda Meyer, Dr George K. Asamoah, Dr Ebo Afful, Mr Rhamees Nordien, Mr Sithembiso Ntuli, Dr Dorothy Asare and Mr Godwin Kebbi.
The ceremony featured a presentation on the university’s academic programmes, strategic priorities and long-term growth plans, highlighting RIUC’s ambition to deliver industry-relevant education and produce graduates equipped for both local and global opportunities.
A key highlight of the event was the swearing-in of Council members, who took the oath of office and secrecy, committing themselves to integrity, confidentiality and sound fiduciary responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
In his acceptance remarks, Prof Kwansah-Aidoo underscored the central role of governance in building a credible and forward-looking institution.
“We recognise that strong governance is the foundation of any credible and forward-looking university. This Council is fully committed to ensuring that RIUC not only complies with all regulatory and fiduciary obligations but also sets a benchmark for institutional excellence in Ghana’s private higher education space.
“Beyond compliance, our focus is on enabling sustainable growth, strengthening academic quality, and positioning RIUC as a leading institution that produces graduates who are relevant, innovative, and globally competitive.”
The move comes at a time when demand for quality tertiary education in Ghana is rising, alongside increasing expectations for accountability and alignment with industry needs.
RIUC, which operates under the ADvTECH Group, is seeking to leverage its international network to expand learning opportunities and enhance curriculum standards through cross-border academic collaboration.
Accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, the university offers programmes across commerce, hospitality and information and communication technology, with a focus on practical skills and employability.
University officials say the newly inaugurated Council will play a critical role in steering the institution’s next phase of development, strengthening governance systems and building confidence among students, regulators and industry partners.
