The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has raised concerns over financial records from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry after auditors rejected GH₵91.8 million in reported arrears due to lack of evidence.
This shortfall was revealed on Monday, March 30, 2026, when officials from the ministry appeared before the committee to respond to audit queries on their accounts.
According to the audit findings, the ministry reported a total of GH₵116.9 million as arrears and payable commitments. However, auditors were only able to confirm about GH₵25 million after reviewing the documents submitted.
This left a balance of GH₵91.8 million that could not be verified, leading auditors to reject the amount because of insufficient supporting evidence.
Members of the committee, which is responsible for ensuring proper use of public funds, questioned ministry officials over the discrepancies and demanded clear explanations.
In response, former Chief Director of the Ministry, Patrick Nimoh, disagreed with the audit findings. He said the ministry had submitted all necessary documents during the review process and insisted that the figures were properly supported.
The development has raised fresh concerns about transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, as the committee continues its investigations into the matter.
