President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his government is currently reviewing the recommendations of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) and will soon establish a Constitutional Review Implementation Committee to oversee the next steps toward constitutional reform.
Speaking at a Presidential Dialogue with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at the Jubilee House in Accra, President Mahama disclosed that the implementation of agreed reforms will commence when Parliament convenes, following all constitutional and legislative procedures.
“The government is currently examining the recommendations of the Constitutional Review Committee, and very soon will announce the formation of the Constitutional Review Implementation Committee (CRIC) to oversee the next steps towards constitutional review,” the President stated.
He explained that the process reflects his administration’s commitment to deepening democratic governance, strengthening checks and balances, and ensuring that Ghana’s constitutional order continues to respond to the evolving aspirations of the Ghanaian people.
The President emphasized that transparency and accountability remain central to his governance agenda, adding that tangible steps are being taken to improve public financial management, increase procurement transparency, and uphold ethical standards in public office.
He also noted that the Public Officers’ Code of Conduct Bill, currently before Parliament, aims to establish clear ethical standards for public officials, enhance accountability and integrity, and provide enforceable guidelines on conflicts of interest and the proper use of public office.
President Mahama encouraged CSOs to actively engage with the legislative process and support public awareness when the bill is enacted.
