The government has indicated that ongoing engagements between Ghana and the Dangote Refinery have not yet reached the implementation stage, with no specific timeline on when fuel supplies could begin.

Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Tuesday, March 31, the Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu said discussions are still underway, and any rollout will depend on necessity and final agreements.

“Engagements are ongoing. As and when it is deemed necessary to have that kicked, it will take off,” he said.

His comments follow remarks by President John Dramani Mahama that Ghana is making progress in talks with the Dangote Refinery to potentially secure fuel supplies.

The arrangement is being considered as part of efforts to stabilise fuel supply and prices amid global disruptions.

While the development signals a possible shift in Ghana’s fuel sourcing strategy, officials say the arrangement remains conditional and not yet operational, pending the outcome of negotiations.
