The Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as statutory public holidays to mark this year’s Easter festivities.

In a statement issued and signed by the Minister of the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, announced that the two days, observed as Good Friday and Easter Monday, must be recognised nationwide.

The announcement ensures that public institutions, businesses, and workers adjust their schedules in line with statutory requirements governing public holidays.

The declaration allows Christians across Ghana to commemorate one of the most important periods on the Christian calendar, marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday, which falls on April 3, signifies the crucifixion of Christ, while Easter Monday, on April 6, continues the celebrations following Easter Sunday.

Easter in Ghana is traditionally marked by church services, family gatherings, and social events, with destinations such as Kwahu expected to attract large crowds for the annual festivities.

The Interior Minister urged the public to observe the holidays in accordance with the law, while reflecting on the spiritual significance of the season.
