Blue Skies Ghana Ltd. stamped their authority on Ghana’s corporate sporting calendar with a commanding all-round display to retain the Overall Best Team title at the fourth UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) Corporate Sports Jamboree, headlining a vibrant festival that blended competition, commerce and community spirit.
The event, held in a carnival-like atmosphere, drew over 700 participants from 30-member companies, alongside their families, underlining its growing stature as one of the most influential corporate engagement platforms in the country. With Enterprise Group as lead sponsor, and support from Voltic (GH) LTD., Kasapreko PLC and Blue Skies itself, the jamboree delivered a vibrant blend of sport, brand visibility and relationship-building.
From the opening aerobics session, the jamboree maintained a lively tempo, with employees swapping office attire for sporting gear in a day defined as much by teamwork as by competition. Football, sprint races, tug of war, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and board games all featured prominently, ensuring broad participation across age groups and interests.
Amid the buzz, Blue Skies emerged as the standout force, dominating across disciplines with consistency and depth. Their back-to-back triumph was not merely a sporting achievement but also a reflection of a structured internal culture that prioritises employee well-being, cohesion and performance.
“Our participation aligns with our long-standing commitment to employee well-being,” Sampson Kwawukumey, the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Officer in charge of sports, said, adding, “Events like this provide an excellent opportunity for our staff to stay active, build team spirit and connect with colleagues from other organisations. Health is wealth.”
While the medals and trophies told one story, the broader significance of the jamboree lay in its strategic value to the business community. For the UKGCC, the event is a deliberate instrument for facilitating connections, breaking down formal barriers and creating opportunities for collaboration in an informal setting.
Networking hub
The UKGCC Executive Director, Adjoba Kyiamah, reinforced this vision, describing the gathering as a powerful networking hub. “This is a captive audience for companies to showcase their products and services and connect with potential clients,” she noted, urging more businesses to tap into the Chamber’s ecosystem.
“This is about creating platforms for businesses to connect, collaborate and grow,” she said. “We encourage more organisations to come on board and benefit from such initiatives.”
For Enterprise Group, the lead sponsor, the event offered premium visibility and direct engagement with a targeted corporate audience. The record turnout further amplified its commercial appeal in aligning brand messaging with lifestyle and wellness narratives.
“We believe strong businesses are built by healthy, motivated people and meaningful relationships,” Phyllis Woode-Nartey, the Head of Group Communications and Synergies at Enterprise Group PLC, said.
