Power outage in Accra West and scheduled maintenance in Ashanti Region

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that a power outage currently affecting several areas in the Accra West Region is due to a fault in the network.

According to the company, the outage is due to a fault in their network, and engineers are currently working to restore supply as soon as possible. The affected areas include key parts of Accra and surrounding communities.

The outage, which has impacted numerous residents and businesses, is a result of a fault within ECG’s network. The following areas are experiencing power disruptions:

  • Dan Wright
  • IBE
  • Laterbiokorshie
  • Kamara
  • Mamprobi
  • Bubuashie
  • Accra Academy
  • Agape Down
  • And surrounding areas

ECG has assured the public that its engineers are actively working to address the issue and restore power as quickly as possible.

The company acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the outage, offering apologies to the affected customers.

“We understand the difficulties that power outages can cause, and we are doing everything in our power to resolve this issue swiftly. Our team is diligently working to restore normal service,” the statement read.

ECG did not specify a time frame for the resolution of the fault but pledged to provide further updates to affected customers as soon as they are available.

In addition to the ongoing issues in Accra West, ECG also announced scheduled emergency maintenance works that will lead to a temporary power outage in parts of the Ashanti Region.

The maintenance is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and enhance the reliability of the electricity supply.

The scheduled outage will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The maintenance work will affect the following areas:

  • Part of Asabi Town
  • Boubai Muntaka
  • Boubai Town
  • Adukrom
  • Part of Sawaaba
  • Aprade
  • Mesuam
  • Ekyem
  • Nsanie
  • Oduom
  • And surrounding areas

ECG has advised customers in these areas to make necessary preparations for the temporary outage during the maintenance window.

The company expressed its regret for any inconvenience caused and reassured customers that the work is necessary to ensure improved service delivery.
