US Attorney General Pam Bondi has been sacked, White House officials say.
We still don’t know who will replace her, but there has been widespread speculation that it may be Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Some US media outlets, however, have reported that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will temporarily replace her.
Why has Pam been sacked?
It’s been widely reported that Trump’s decision to fire his attorney general may be down to her handling of the Epstein files and their release earlier this year by the Department of Justice (DoJ).
The DoJ was ordered to release the files by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which Trump signed into law late last year amid pressure from Republicans in Congress.
As a reminder, no one in the US is under investigation in relation to the Epstein files.
