The Ministry of Health has announced the commencement of a nationwide recruitment exercise for health professionals, set to begin on April 16, 2026, following financial clearance by the government.
In a statement issued on Thursday, April 2, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman, indicated that the initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across Ghana, with authorities emphasising a structured and transparent approach to the recruitment process.
According to the ministry, the exercise will be decentralised and conducted at the district level, with recruitment decisions based strictly on verified vacancies within respective areas.
This approach is expected to ensure a more equitable distribution of health personnel, particularly in underserved communities.
Officials further indicated that the recruitment process would be competitive and guided by an approved quota system, covering all professional cadres and year groups.

The Ministry stressed that strict adherence to transparency and fairness would underpin the entire exercise.
In line with fiscal discipline, all recruitments will be carried out within approved budgetary limits, ensuring that the process remains sustainable and aligned with national financial provisions.
The Ministry has advised qualified health professionals to closely monitor official communication channels, including those of district health administrations, for announcements regarding vacancies and detailed application procedures.
Prospective applicants have also been urged to prepare all necessary documentation and credentials ahead of the rollout to avoid delays.
The financial clearance granted for the exercise is valid until December 31, 2026, within which period all recruitment activities must be completed.
The ministry has called on eligible professionals across the country to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that their participation would play a vital role in enhancing healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes nationwide.
“The ministry urges all eligible professionals to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to strengthening healthcare delivery across Ghana,” the statement concluded.
