A New Patriotic Party (NPP) pressure group identifying itself as the National Youth Ambassadors for Change (NYAC), led by Kwadwo Sebe, has urged party faithful to exercise caution, warning against what it describes as the politicisation of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s image amid rising internal tensions.
The group specifically cautioned the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, as well as key allies, including Sammy Awuku and Henry Nana Boakye, against projecting perceived backing of the flagbearer in ongoing internal dynamics.
Concerns have been mounting among party members over what many describe as a growing tendency to associate Dr. Bawumia with the political survival or advancement of certain individuals, an approach critics say risks deepening divisions within the party.
According to party insiders and grassroots supporters, attempts to link Dr. Bawumia’s image to bolster confidence in specific personalities, particularly Mr. Kodua Frimpong, could undermine unity and erode trust among the rank and file.
Critics argue that Dr. Bawumia, widely regarded as a unifying figure and a key pillar of the party’s future, should not be drawn into what they term “factional endorsements” or “strategic name-dropping” aimed at enhancing the standing of individuals facing internal scrutiny.
The concerns also extend to leading communicators and organisers within the party who are being urged to exercise restraint and protect the integrity of the party’s leadership structure.
