Government has taken delivery of 100 new 29-seater buses as part of efforts to address ongoing road transport challenges across the country, Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, April 5, 2026, he said the buses are part of a total of 300 procured to improve transport services and reduce pressure on commuters.

According to him, an additional 100 buses will arrive in August, while the final batch of 100 is expected in November 2026.

“In the meantime, 100 29-seater buses have arrived in the country to ease recent road transport challenges. They form part of 300 procured for the purpose.

“Another batch of 100 will arrive in August, with the last batch of 100 arriving in November,” he stated.

The initiative forms part of government’s broader efforts to enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and strengthen the public transport network nationwide.

In December 2025, the Minister of Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, assured that the State Transport Company (STC) and Metro Mass Transit (MMT) would receive new buses by the end of the first quarter of 2026 as part of measures to retool the two state-owned transport operators.
