President John Mahama has arrived in Lyon to participate in the One Health Summit, where he will co-chair the high-level segment alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.
The summit brings together world leaders, health ministers, and global health experts to deliberate on critical issues, including global health systems, sustainable food production, and coordinated responses to emerging health challenges.
President Mahama, founder of the Accra Reset Initiative, will play a leading role in shaping discussions at the summit. He is scheduled to deliver two keynote addresses: the first at a meeting on Global Health Architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization. The session will focus on reforms to global health systems and is expected to endorse a Political Declaration aimed at strengthening international health cooperation.
His second keynote address will open the high-level segment for Heads of State and Government, where he will outline Ghana’s commitments and perspectives on global health security.
On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, President Mahama will travel to Paris for an official visit to the Élysée Palace, where he will hold bilateral talks with President Macron. Discussions will focus on deepening Ghana-France relations and exploring cooperation in key areas such as health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
Ahead of the bilateral meeting, President Mahama will be received by Gérard Larcher at the French Senate.
The President was warmly welcomed to Lyon by members of the Ghanaian community, who gathered to receive him on Easter Monday.
He is expected to return to Accra shortly after his engagements in France.
