Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Assin South MP, has demanded President John Mahama apologize to Ghana’s religious leaders, traditional authorities, and the public for allegedly deceiving them on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
The NPP lawmaker accused Mahama and the NDC of “double standards and political hypocrisy” on LGBT+ issues, saying they supported the bill in opposition but now downplay its urgency in government.
Fordjour claimed Mahama campaigned on assenting to the bill in 2024 but now says it’s not a priority.
He urged Parliament to expedite the bill’s passage, emphasizing Ghana’s cultural and religious values. The NPP vows to hold the government accountable on this issue.
