The presidential candidate of the Progressive Alliance of Ghana (PAG), John Kpikpi, has donated GH¢5,000 to the Taviefe Youth Association, urging the community to embrace unity and a new style of leadership to drive development.
The contribution was announced at the Taviefe Youth Easter Homecoming, an event that brought together young people, community leaders and stakeholders under the theme “Taviefe Must Unite Again” to deliberate on issues affecting the area.
Organisers said the support would strengthen the association’s activities and enhance its efforts to mobilise young people for community-based initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Kpikpi said he had observed a strong desire for unity among the people, describing it as a sign of hope for the community’s future.
“What I pick up is that there is a thirst and a hunger for unity and development in the town. And when you see such hunger, you can know that this is coming from God… and because it is a desire from God, He himself will fulfill it,” he stated.
He noted that the growing call for togetherness presented an opportunity for the people of Taviefe to rebuild relationships and chart a common path towards progress, adding that sustained commitment would foster cooperation and a renewed sense of belonging.
Drawing parallels with the Easter season, Dr Kpikpi emphasised the importance of reconciliation and forgiveness, which he said were essential for healing divisions within the community.
“The Easter that we are celebrating is about that very thing… He brought forgiveness, He brought peace, and when we receive this and extend it to one another, then we shall see a new day and a new beginning,” he said.
He stressed that unresolved conflicts often hinder development and urged residents to embrace forgiveness as a means of creating a fresh start for the community.
Beyond unity, Dr Kpikpi called for a shift in mindset among the youth, encouraging them to adopt what he described as “new thinking” to support transformation and growth. He highlighted integrity as critical, urging both workers and employers to uphold honesty in their daily activities.
On leadership, he underscored the need for a new approach anchored on service and accountability, arguing that the future of the community would depend on the quality of leaders it chooses.
“We need leaders who love and care for their people—leaders who lead for the people instead of for themselves. I urge you to look for leadership at that level,” he added.
The Taviefe Youth Easter Homecoming forms part of ongoing efforts to reconnect members of the community, particularly the youth, and to promote dialogue, collaboration and collective action towards development.
