Police in Accra have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting incident at the Adjin Kotoku Onion Market, as investigations into the disturbance continue.

The suspect, Inusah Seidu, 40, was picked up in the area on Tuesday at about 3:00 p.m., according to a police situational report.

The report said the arrest followed a disturbance at the market on April 5, 2026, which prompted the deployment of a surveillance team from the Special Operations Unit under the Office of the Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police.

According to the police, the operation was part of a fact-finding mission to identify individuals involved in the incident and restore calm in the area.

“On 08/04/2026 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the team successfully arrested a suspect, Inusah Seidu, aged 40, from his hideout at Adjin Kotoku. The suspect is believed to have been involved in the shooting incident that occurred on 05/04/2026,” the report said.

The police added that the suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals linked to the incident.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but say investigations remain active.
