Ghanaian actress Vivian Jill Lawrence has finally addressed a long-discussed incident involving fellow Kumawood actor Yaw Adu, offering clarity on what transpired from her perspective.

Speaking in a recent interview on Accra FM, the actress gave a calm yet candid account of the moment, which has lingered in public conversations within the Kumawood industry for years.

According to Vivian Jill, the incident occurred at the early stages of her acting career when she was still new to the industry and navigating unfamiliar environments.

She explained that upon arriving on set, she was informed that her colleagues were already present. While preparing alone in a room, she was mentally getting ready for her role, unsure of what to expect.

However, the situation became uncomfortable when actor Sumsum entered the room with a group of other actors.

Vivian Jill noted that the moment felt overwhelming—not because of any single individual, but due to the unfamiliar setting and the pressure of being surrounded by people she had not worked with before.

Her discomfort intensified when she was later asked to perform a romantic scene that involved kissing.

The actress revealed that she was not ready for such a level of intimacy at the time and made the decision to decline the scene.

“I didn’t feel comfortable, and I chose not to force myself into something I wasn’t prepared for,” she indicated.

Reflecting on the incident years later, Vivian Jill acknowledged how much she has grown both professionally and personally.

With increased experience and confidence in her craft, she stated that her outlook has since changed. According to her, if presented with a similar scene today, she would be more open and willing to perform it.
