The Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has concluded his Easter visitations across several communities in the district, with a strong focus on improving healthcare delivery and road infrastructure.
The tour, which ended at Agorkpo, a suburb of Sogakope, the South Tongu District and Constituency capital, formed part of the MP’s efforts to engage directly with constituents, assess their needs and reaffirm his commitment to grassroots development.
Some of the communities visited included Detsawome, Agordomi, Wlorto, Larve, Tsavanya, Hlevi, Kpotame, and Sogakope, interacting with residents and sharing his vision for accelerated development within the district.
Dzebetato
On the final day of his outreach, Mr Lukutor visited Dzebetato, where he held discussions with elders and community leaders on key challenges confronting the area.
Prominent among the concerns raised was the need to complete an ongoing community health project to enhance access to healthcare services.
The assembly member for the area, Peter Newton Doe, appealed to the MP to support the completion of the facility.
In response, Mr Lukutor assured the community of his readiness, together with the District Chief Executive (DCE), to assist.
He, however, advised that the most critical aspects of the project should be prioritised under an emergency intervention plan to expedite its completion.
Roads
From Dzebetato, the MP made a brief stop at Kuve before proceeding to Alikekope, where he was warmly received by residents.
Discussions there centred largely on the poor state of roads in the community, which residents said continued to hamper transportation and economic activities.
Mr Lukutor acknowledged the concerns and assured the residents that steps would be taken to address the situation.
He indicated that he would collaborate with the District Chief Executive (DCE) to facilitate the provision of DRIP machines to improve road conditions and enhance accessibility.
Tribute to elders
At Agorkpo, the final stop of the tour, the MP joined a gathering of elderly residents, where he made a cash donation in support of their activities.
He paid tribute to the aged, describing them as a vital segment of society, whose contributions to community and national development must be recognised and celebrated.
As part of his engagements, Mr Lukutor also delegated representatives to attend events in other communities. A former Constituency Organiser represented him at the Fievie Women’s Festival, while assembly members attended development meetings at Dzetorkoe and Asidowui on his behalf.
He further urged the assembly members to formally submit requests to his office to facilitate support for ongoing community projects.
