54-year-old woman killed in Bibiani Old Town road crash

A 54-year-old woman has died after being knocked down by a Toyota Hilux at Bibiani Old Town in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

The deceased, identified as Mary Gamage, was said to have been crossing the road when the accident occurred.

According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service in Bibiani, the vehicle involved, a Toyota Hilux with registration number GE 2119-19, was being driven by 42-year-old Fredrick Ampadu Yeboah from Goaso towards Bibiani.

Police reports indicate that the driver allegedly failed to exercise due care when he reached a section of the road at Bibiani Old Town, leading to the collision with the pedestrian.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Assembly Member for Old Town, Mubarik Zakari, confirmed the incident and said the driver has been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Bibiani mortuary.
