Ghana’s tourism authorities are throwing their weight behind comic star Dr Likee as he prepares to take his craft to an international stage.
In a visit that signaled both endorsement and expectation, Dr Likee and members of his team met with Maame Efua Houadjeto, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, alongside her deputy, Abeiku Santana. The delegation used the meeting to formally brief the Authority on their upcoming London showcase and extend an invitation to the leadership.
Beyond the usual courtesies, the conversation took on a broader cultural tone. Houadjeto urged the team to weave in themes around reparations, an issue Ghana has been actively promoting on the global stage under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama. The suggestion reflects a growing push to use entertainment as a vehicle for national storytelling and historical reflection.
Backing the words with action, Abeiku Santana disclosed that the GTA would support the production with two flight tickets to ease travel arrangements for Dr Likee and his crew, stressing the Authority’s commitment to exporting Ghanaian creativity.
Grateful for the backing, the team expressed appreciation for what they described as timely and meaningful support as they gear up for a major international audience.
The event, titled Dr. Likee Live – A Night of Comedy, Music & Stage Play, is slated for May 22, 2026, at the Indigo at The O2 in London. The night is expected to blend humour, live performances and theatrical elements, with appearances from Akrobeto, Nana Ama McBrown and Papa Kumasi, adding further star power to the lineup.
The team also visited a renowned media personality, Bola Ray.
