Mahama Ayariga has officially launched a major wave of development projects across the Bawku municipality, marking a significant step toward improving living conditions in the area.

The sod-cutting ceremony signals the start of several projects focused on education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and economic growth. These projects are expected to impact not just Bawku, but nearby communities as well.

In the education sector, support from GETFund will go into improving facilities at Bawku Senior High School/Technical Institute and Bawku SHTS. New classroom blocks are also set to be constructed in communities like Mognoori, Jentiga No. 1, Sakpari, and Tambaligo to help ease overcrowding and improve learning conditions.

Road development is also a key part of the plan. Important routes such as the Bawku SHS to Police Station stretch, the Tinsongo bypass, and the Deega–Lalsaa road will be worked on to improve movement within the municipality and reduce transportation challenges.

One of the standout projects is a proposed 24-hour economy market. This is expected to create jobs, boost trading activities, and support local businesses, giving the area a stronger economic base.

In the health sector, plans are in place to build a referral hospital at Baribari/Zemasa. When completed, it will improve access to quality healthcare for residents who currently have to travel long distances for medical services.

Speaking at the event, Ayariga thanked traditional leaders, contractors, and community members for their support. He assured them of his commitment to ensuring that all projects are completed on time and meet high standards.

He added that these developments are part of a broader effort to bring real change, create opportunities, and improve the everyday lives of people in the Bawku municipality.
