A communications officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Baba Amando, has been granted bail by the High Court General Jurisdiction 2 in Accra after spending several days in remand.
The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties and directed that he reports to the police every two weeks as investigations into the case continue.
Baba Amando, also known as Abubakar Yakubu, was arrested on Monday, April 13, 2026, in connection with allegations of offensive conduct, false publication and the circulation of statements considered likely to incite fear and panic.
Although prosecutors are yet to formally file charges, sources close to the investigation suggest the arrest may be linked to alleged threats directed at a judge at the Adentan Circuit Court.
In addition, the suspect is alleged to have circulated derogatory images of the President and some members of the ruling government on social media, further widening the scope of the ongoing investigations.
The case has drawn public attention as authorities continue to examine the boundaries between free expression and actions deemed capable of undermining public order or judicial independence.
The police have yet to provide further details on the progress of the case, but officials indicate that investigations remain active.
