The Ho West Constituency in the Volta Region has received a boost in its agricultural sector following the delivery of 10,000 day-old chicks under the government’s “Nkukor Nkitinkiti” poultry initiative.
The Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, confirmed that the chicks arrived in the early hours of yesterday, around 2:30 a.m., marking a key milestone in efforts to promote poultry farming and improve livelihoods in the constituency.
According to him, brooding of the chicks has commenced and will continue over the next four weeks to ensure proper care and growth before distribution to beneficiaries.
Mr Bedzrah commended President John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his promise through the initiative, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.
“You promised, and you have delivered,” he said, expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Ho West.
The “Nkukor Nkitinkiti” project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector, particularly in poultry production, while creating employment opportunities and supporting local farmers.
Residents have welcomed the development, noting that the initiative is expected to enhance food production and boost economic activity in the area.
The chicks are expected to be distributed after the brooding period, bringing direct benefits to farmers and households in the constituency.
