The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has presented $43,120 in financial compensation to three United Nations peacekeepers who sustained injuries while on duty.
The presentation was made on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Command Mess, Burma Camp.
The beneficiaries are Warrant Officer Class Two (WOII) Ocran Alfred, Staff Sergeant (S/SGT) Arddey Oblie Solomon, and Sergeant (SGT) Kornu Eric Romeo.
WOII Ocran Alfred, injured while serving with UNIFIL GH 89 in Lebanon, received $30,030. S/SGT Arddey Oblie Solomon, wounded during deployment with MINUSMA GHANENGRCOY 10 in Mali, received $6,160. SGT Kornu Eric Romeo, who sustained injuries in South Sudan while serving with UNISFA GH 1, received $6,930.
Director General of Human Resources at General Headquarters, Commodore Francis Nyarko, presented the funds on behalf of the Military High Command. He commended GAF leadership for the “timely and compassionate intervention,” stressing that the sacrifices of the soldiers would never be overlooked.
“The financial support serves not only as relief but also as a symbol of national gratitude for the soldiers’ courage, dedication and selfless service,” Commodore Nyarko said.
Speaking for the beneficiaries, WOII Ocran Alfred thanked the Military High Command, saying the support had brought relief to them and their families while strengthening their pride in serving the nation.
The ceremony was attended by Director General, Defence Finance Controller, Brigadier General Salifu Osumanu; Acting Director General, Department of Public Relations, Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin; senior officers; representatives from the three arms of service; and family members.
