The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has honoured a distinguished group of political leaders, traditional rulers and business figures at the World-Meets-in-Ghana Executive Gala, held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The high-level event brought together key national and international personalities in recognition of contributions to peacebuilding, governance and economic development, while also celebrating the Asantehene’s enduring influence as a unifying figure in Ghana and beyond.
Among those honoured were President John Dramani Mahama, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and former Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia. The Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III, was also recognised at the ceremony.
Other honourees included Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, prominent business leader Samuel Esson Jonah, Bank of Ghana Governor Johnson Asiama, Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, and Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, alongside other leading figures from the corporate sector.
The gala, organised by the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President in partnership with E ON 3 Group, formed part of activities marking the 27th anniversary of the Asantehene’s enstoolment. It was held under the theme “Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision”.
Speakers at the event paid tribute to the Asantehene’s longstanding role in conflict resolution and national cohesion, citing his involvement in major mediation efforts across Adonten, Tafo, Tepa, Dagbon, Sampa and Bawku. His leadership, they noted, continues to reinforce his reputation as a symbol of peace, justice and wisdom.
The ceremony, held at the Jubilee Hall of the Manhyia Palace, attracted members of the diplomatic community, policymakers, traditional authorities and business leaders, underscoring the global relevance of the Asantehene’s influence.
As Special Guest of Honour, Ms Botchwey joined other dignitaries in highlighting the importance of leadership grounded in dialogue and inclusivity, noting that such values remain essential for sustainable development.
Over the years, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has earned widespread recognition for his role in promoting unity and stability, both within Ghana and across the African continent. The gala reaffirmed his standing as a global advocate for peace while also celebrating individuals whose work aligns with his vision for a prosperous and cohesive society.
