The executives of the Adabraka Official Town branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Klottey Korle Constituency have called for unity among members to sustain electoral gains and retain power and majority of the Parliamentary seats in the next elections.

They made the call during an annual ward meeting and get-together held last Saturday in Accra, which had brought together branch executives, grassroots members and constituency leaders to celebrate the party’s success.

The event had the theme, “Together in unity, building a better future tomorrow,” and was also used to address emerging concerns about some internal divisions among the grass roots and local-level executives.

Unity

The Ward Coordinator, Frederick D.K. Anatsui, warned that divisions among constituency leaders had begun to affect grassroots morale and participation.

He stressed that leadership conflicts would create dissatisfaction despite the party being in power and called for deliberate efforts to rebuild trust.

Mr Anatsui also urged party leaders to communicate responsibly and avoid statements that could deepen divisions.

“When leadership is divided, the grassroots feel it first. The ground shakes when the top pulls in different directions. Patience and mutual respect are important to sustaining unity within the party. Let us speak to unite, not to divide,” he said.

Mr Anatsui also cautioned members against allowing personal disappointments, such as unmet expectations for appointments, to fuel disunity.

He also urged party leaders to promote inclusiveness and ensure that members who contributed to the party’s victory felt recognised and motivated.

Increased margins

For his part, the Constituency Chairman, Benjamin Neequaye Kotey, pointed to the party’s increasing electoral margins as evidence of effective organisation and commitment.

He said that cooperation between leaders and grassroots members accounted for the party’s dominance in the Klottey Korle Constituency in the last elections.

“A chairman cannot work without the MP, and the MP too cannot work without the chairman. If we understand this principle and do our things very well, this constituency will remain in the hands of the NDC,” he said.

Mr Kotey, however, warned that disunity could reverse these gains, stressing that effective collaboration remained essential for sustaining electoral success in the constituency.

He urged members to rally behind elected leaders and prioritise collective progress over factional interests.
