The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has inspected the ongoing 47-kilometre dual carriage Outer Kumasi Ring Road project.

In the company of his Deputy, Hamza Suhuyini and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, he inspected key sections of the strategic project which traverses five districts in the Ashanti Region.

The delegation was joined by the Chief of Kona and Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) whose jurisdictions fall along the project corridor.  Progress Assessment

According to the Ashanti Regional Minister, the visit provided an opportunity to assess the pace of work, address emerging concerns on the ground, and reaffirm the government’s commitment to the timely delivery of the project.

“We remain focused on ensuring quality execution and delivering lasting impact for our people,” the Minister said.

The Outer Kumasi Ring Road is a key component of the “Big Push” road infrastructure programme spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama.

The project is designed to improve regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion within the Kumasi metropolis, and stimulate economic growth across the Ashanti Region.

Once completed, the dual carriageway will serve as an alternative route for commuters and haulage trucks, diverting traffic from the city centre and linking key economic zones in the region.

The Kona Chief and MMDCEs along the corridor pledged their support to ensure the smooth execution of the project.

The Roads Ministry said contractors have been tasked to maintain quality standards and adhere to the project timelines.

The 47km Outer Kumasi Ring Road forms part of broader efforts by the NDC government to expand and modernise Ghana’s road network under its infrastructure development agenda.
