Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has begun a European tour to engage Ghanaian players as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Portuguese trainer, who was unveiled in Accra last week, has moved swiftly to establish contact with key members of the national team following initial scouting work involving the Black Galaxies.

The tour, which commenced on Sunday, is aimed at strengthening relationships within the squad while assessing player form across European leagues. As part of the exercise, Queiroz has already held discussions with Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew and midfield anchor Thomas Partey.

Sources indicate that the coach plans to meet several other senior players and emerging talents during the trip, while also attending matches involving Ghanaian internationals to evaluate performance levels ahead of the global tournament.

The engagements are expected to provide Queiroz with an opportunity to communicate his tactical philosophy and outline his vision for the team, having officially taken charge earlier this month.

The coach is being supported by members of his technical team, who are assisting with player monitoring and scouting as part of a broader strategy to build a competitive squad for the Mundial.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico and the United States in June. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama national football team, England national football team and Croatia national football team.

The European tour marks a critical phase in Ghana’s build-up to the tournament, as the new technical leadership seeks to blend experience with emerging talent in pursuit of a strong showing on the world stage.
