Lovers of smooth, soulful music now have a new midweek escape as Soho Bar & Lounge rolls out a weekly jazz experience aimed at mature audiences and music enthusiasts.
Dubbed a Wednesday night jazz activation, the initiative, which began just last week, is already positioning itself as a regular feature on Accra’s nightlife calendar.
According to the Events Manager, Kwame Affum, the idea was a natural fit for the venue’s clientele.
“If you come to Soho, you realise that most of the patrons are mature folks, and naturally, they also like jazz. So it was just natural to have it as part of our lineup,” he explained.
This week’s edition holds special significance as it coincides with International Jazz Day, a globally recognised event that celebrates jazz and its role in uniting people across cultures.
To mark the occasion, patrons will be treated to a live performance by The Jazz Brothers, the resident band set to perform every Wednesday.
The group is also expected to deliver a special tribute in honour of Herbie Hancock, the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Jazz who has been instrumental in promoting the global celebration.
“Patrons should expect a wonderful jazz performance. The Jazz Brothers will be performing, and there will be a special tribute as part of the International Jazz Day celebration,” Mr Affum said.
The event, which starts at 8:30 p.m., is currently not ticketed, making it accessible to a wide audience. However, organisers are encouraging early reservations to secure seating, especially for groups attending with friends or family.
In addition to the music, guests can enjoy a wide selection of food and beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, wines, champagne and other drinks available for purchase.
“With our relaxed ambience and curated musical experience, Soho’s weekly jazz nights promise to offer a refreshing alternative to the city’s bustling nightlife while celebrating the timeless appeal of jazz” he said.
