The police have arrested 11 suspects for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition in connection with the ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Adambrobe, Aburi.
The Aburi District Command picked up 10 suspects on Sunday, May 3, 2026, following intelligence-led operations in the community.
An additional suspect was arrested on Monday, May 4, after being spotted in a procession within the township.
Suspects Identity
The suspects have been named as Dawu Joseph, a farmer; Kwame Aboagye, a vulcanizer; Samuel Obeng, a taxi driver in Adambrobe; Owusu Paul, a member of the Adambrobe Asekyere family; and Jerry John Kwame Atilla, a businessman based in Sowutuom.
The rest are Evans Dekadzor, Christian Atsu, Samuel Annan, Thomas Davidson, and Richard Agyeman, all private security men.
The eleventh suspect is Douglas Amoako Danquah, arrested on May 4.
Weapons Retrieved
The police retrieved five pump-action rifles, 23 live cartridges, one taser, six mobile phones, and one body armour from the suspects.
Two vehicles used to transport the suspects were also impounded: an unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19.
Investigations Ongoing
All 11 suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe.
It urged all parties in the chieftaincy dispute to exercise restraint as investigations continue.
The arrests come amid heightened tension in Adambrobe over the chieftaincy matter. Police say they are monitoring the area closely to prevent any escalation of violence.
