Air Ghana has taken delivery of a new Boeing 737-400 Freighter, registered as 9G-KCT, to strengthen its cargo operations and expand its reach across West Africa.

The addition brings the airline’s fleet of Boeing 737-400F aircraft to three, significantly enhancing its capacity to move goods across key regional trade routes.

The new aircraft is expected to improve efficiency, increase payload capability, and support growing demand for air freight services within the sub-region.

The Boeing 737-400F, part of the Boeing 737 Classic series, was originally designed as a passenger aircraft in the late 1980s and 1990s, then converted into a dedicated freighter.

Over the years, the model has built a reputation as a dependable workhorse for cargo operators, thanks to its cost-effectiveness and suitability for short- and medium-haul operations.

Air Ghana notes that its expansion is backed by over 30 years of experience in cargo and aviation services, reflecting its long-standing roots in logistics before transitioning into full airline operations.

The company formally became an operational cargo airline in 2014 after securing its Air Operator Certificate.

Unlike the defunct national carrier Ghana Airways or Ghana International Airlines, Air Ghana operates as a fully privately owned entity with no state involvement, relying on private investment to drive its growth and operational strategy.

The latest fleet expansion underscores the airline’s ambition to scale up operations and position itself as a key player in regional air logistics, particularly as trade volumes increase under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area.
