The Anglican Diocese of Tema has held a special service in honour of Venerable Anthony Morkehchie Eiwuley, who has retired from active ministry after 24 years of dedicated priestly service in the church.
The thanksgiving and farewell service held last Sunday at the Christ the King Anglican Church at Sakumono brought together family, friends, the clergy, guild members, parishioners and loved ones.
Present at the service was the Lord Bishop of Tema, the Rt Rev. George Kotei Neequaye and diocesan officials.
Homily
Delivering the homily, Venerable Eiwuley reflected on the words of St Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
He encouraged Christians and church leaders to remain steadfast in their calling, faithful in service and committed to the mission of Christ, regardless of the challenges encountered along the journey of ministry.
Throughout the service, messages poured in from the diocese, various church societies and guilds, parishioners and loved ones, all expressing gratitude for Ven. Eiwuley’s humility, pastoral care, mentorship and unwavering commitment to the Anglican Church.
During his 24 years in ministry, Ven. Eiwuley served in several parishes, including the Holy Gabriel Anglican Church, Ashaiman; the St Nicholas Anglican Church, Lashibi; the St Monica Anglican Church, Baatsona and the Christ the King Anglican Church, Sakumono, where he served until his retirement.
Commendation
The atmosphere was filled with thanksgiving, emotion and celebration as the church acknowledged Ven. Eiwuley’s immense contribution to the ministry and wished him well in retirement. Prayers were offered for God’s continued strength, peace and blessings upon him and his family in the next chapter of his life.
