66 arrested for alleged cybercrimes by Ghana Immigration Service

Approximately sixty-six citizens of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have been arrested, according to the Ghana Immigration Service’s (GIS) Western Regional Command.

According to a statement from the Service, the individuals were detained in Sekondi-Takoradi in Ghana’s Western Region and are thought to be involved in illicit operations, including cybercrimes.

On March 27, they were apprehended at their hiding place as part of an intelligence-led operation.

It further stated that they are presently being held by the Western Regional Command of the Service and are supporting the continuing investigations.

The GIS promised that the investigation’s findings will be made public in the interim.
