Renowned Ghanaian actor Kwaku Twumasi in an interview on the Okukuseku Show has voiced his concerns about the current state of blogging in the country, criticizing bloggers for prioritizing sensationalism and negative news over content that fosters development.
Twumasi expressed his frustration, noting that many individuals who call themselves bloggers focus on sensational stories to make quick money rather than contributing positively to society. He lamented the fact that these bloggers often spread damaging rumors and scandalous content, such as leaked photos, rather than using their platforms for constructive purposes.
“Now people call themselves bloggers, which is not bad, but I think they are bent on destroying people for that small coin,” Twumasi remarked. “They will never use their page for development. Always looking for bad news, like this person’s naked picture is out, etc. When I think about it, I am like, because of small coins, they are doing that, but that is who we are, so we can’t do anything about it.”
The actor further criticized the manner in which some bloggers operate, suggesting that they almost seem to wish for bad things to happen to people just so they have something to write about and earn money from.
“The way they do their job, it’s like they are praying for something bad to happen to someone so that they will have something to say and earn something,” Twumasi added.
