Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign is prioritizing ‘political correctness’ and vote-winning ability in its search for a running mate.
According to campaign spokesperson Dennis Miracle Aboagye, the ideal candidate must bring significant votes to the table and complement Bawumia’s governance efforts. This strategic selection is crucial for the party’s success in the upcoming election.
Aboagye revealed that Bawumia has already identified his preferred running mate, but is waiting for the right time to make the announcement. The selection process will be done in consultation with the National Council, adhering to the NPP’s rules. This careful approach demonstrates the campaign’s commitment to making an informed decision.
A recent survey by the National Investigative Bureau revealed that Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is the top choice among party members, garnering 76.2% of the votes.
Other contenders include Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Apostle Opoku Onyinah, and Bryan Acheampong. The survey’s results indicate a strong consensus among party members that the running mate should hail from the Ashanti Region.
Aboagye’s comments suggest that Bawumia’s campaign is keen on selecting a running mate who can bring significant votes and support to the table, ultimately boosting the party’s chances in the upcoming election. The campaign’s strategic approach and careful consideration demonstrate its dedication to making a winning selection.
