(Video) Bolt driver falls victim to sausage scam
A disturbing incident has come to light in the ride-hailing community, leaving a Bolt driver feeling frustrated and unpaid. The driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared his ordeal on social media, warning fellow drivers to be cautious.
According to the driver, a customer requested a ride and asked him to purchase six packs of sausages with his own money, promising to reimburse him upon arrival. The driver, trusting the customer’s word, complied with the request.
However, upon reaching the designated location, the customer ignored his calls and disappeared, leaving the driver with a significant financial loss.
Social media has reacted to the news;
“He should have been more patient and cautious,” said one social media user in response to the story.
“He for dey fry am small small then relax, different time then ego call the person with different number and try to meet the person.”
Another user joked, “Nothing spoil bossu, all you need is frytol nowhere cool. Make he do sausage party, this mata.”
Some users shared similar experiences, like one who recalled a similar incident where a passenger asked him to buy plantains and then disappeared. “Same happened to me in 2018. She made me buy ripped plantain when I was going to pick her up. When I got there, she told me she didn’t need a ride, she just wanted someone to buy her plantain.”
“I was stranded at the airport, booked a Bolt with my low battery and airport WiFi. Trip confirmed. I came out to the pickup point, and the guy wasn’t coming. Took my items back in to reconnect and call him. He said a customer wanted a return trip. So I should cancel,” said another who believed the driver deserved the treatment.
“He might have wronged the person in the past, and they wanted to punish him,” shared another driver.
